SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL OMAHA THRIFT STORES

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha operates four thrift stores, offering deeply discounted, quality clothing and household items to help low-income families and individuals, and those in financial crisis, to stretch their household budgets. We also provide free store vouchers to those in need, and we partner with local nonprofits, hospitals, and agencies to distribute essential goods at no cost.

You can get involved in and support our important mission by making in-kind donations - gently used clothing, accessories and other household merchandise - to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha’s thrift stores. So, whether you're thinking of donating items or shopping for vintage treasures, your support of the Society’s thrift stores helps generate jobs, funding and support for our programs to feed, clothe and house people in need.

Why lend your support to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha’s Thrift Stores?

Funding which supports our SSVP Omaha mission – A critical source of funding that helps sustain our programs that serve Omaha’s poor and homeless individuals and families is our SSVP Omaha thrift stores. All net revenue from thrift stores’ sales helps fund our services to neighbors in need.

Eco-friendly – As we know, it’s all about our environment these days, as we see electric cars, energy saving appliances, solar power, etc. Our thrift stores do their part in saving our environment by extending the lives of produced products and avoiding landfills. Donated items that come to our stores are repurposed and sold. Unsold clothing items are further repurposed and sold, in bulk – with proceeds supporting our SSVP Omaha thrift stores.

Employment – Our thrift stores provide jobs, along with new job skills and advancement opportunities for our employees.

Value – Stores offer value to our customers and especially in difficult times.
Because of their extremely discounted pricing, our thrift stores allow households with lower incomes to be able to afford quality items that they may be unable to purchase at other retail stores.

Vogue – Thrift Stores are definitely in fashion and provide a fun place to shop for value and diversity.

DONATING IN-KIND ITEMS
If you are considering donating your household items to our SSVP thrifts stores – Thank You! We are very grateful. However, please check out our In-Kind Donation Guidelines for the types of donations that we can accept, as well as the list of donations that we are not able to accept at this time.

IN-KIND DONATION GUIDELINES
Thank you VERY much for considering donating your gently-used item(s) to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha’s thrift stores. Because the Society of St. Vincent de Paul sells items to support our programs that serve people in need, we cannot accept donations that we cannot sell. A good rule of thumb is “Would I give this item to a member of my family…and would I truly expect them to like it and use it. “Gently-used” and/or “In Good Working Condition” are guideline standards to think about, prior to making an in-kind donation to our SSVP Omaha thrift stores. If you have any questions regarding making such a donation, please call our donation line at 402-341-1688 and someone will get back to you within five business days.

GRATEFULLY, WE ACCEPT THE FOLLOWING **
CLOTHING/SHOES – for infants, children, women and men, as long as the items are not soiled, badly-stained, damp, smelly, infested, ripped or otherwise in need of repair.
ACCESSORIES – for women and men, as long as they have been gently-used and are in good condition.
HOME DÉCOR – Home décor items should be in good condition and not broken or missing parts.
HOUSEHOLD ITEMS – Household items should be in good condition and not broken, missing parts or otherwise unusable.
ELECTRONICS – Electronics must be less than 5 years old, in good condition and not broken, missing parts or otherwise unusable.
FURNITURE – Furniture should be in good condition and not broken, badly-stained, damp, smelly, infested, ripped or otherwise in need of repair.

*Please see the list of items that we are unable to accept at our thrift stores for exceptions in these six (6) donation categories, above.

To determine the value of your donation, please refer to the IRS Donor’s Guide to Thrift Shop Donations.

IN-KIND DONATION PICK UPS
Just call (402) 341-1688 or make a request a donation pick up using our form HERE to schedule a free donation pick up of items from your home that fit the following parameters:
  • We can only pick up larger types of items, like major appliances, furniture, etc. – which meet all relevant criteria noted elsewhere on this web page. All other items you plan to donate (including clothing) should be dropped off directly to one of our four thrift stores.
  • Item(s) to be picked up must be located in your driveway or front sidewalk.. We cannot enter any other part of your home for a donation pick up.
  • No pick-ups will be done unless someone is home to meet our staff. This is necessary, in order to eliminate any mix-up/confusion about what exactly is to be picked up and donated to our thrift stores.
