Jeff grew up in Oxford, NE – a small town of 900 people. Oxford used to be the Turkey Capital of Nebraska, it’s true. Jeff attended Kearney State College, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Putting his degree to work, Jeff gained 9 years of experience working at in-patient psychiatric facilities at both St. Joseph’s Center for Mental Health and Douglas County Hospital. Another nine years were spent working for the Salvation Army as a crisis response worker. Jeff also spent over a decade working at Lifegate Church/School where he was in charge of maintenance, supplies, cleaning, set-ups, and security. Before working at SSVP, Jeff had already gained 15 years of experience leading street ministry teams in six cities across the US!
Jeff was already familiar with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul before he started his position since he had previously utilized our services for his past clients. Jeff began his work for SSVP in August of 2021, when he met with our previous executive director, Marty Smith, about the job. Initially, Marty was looking for two part-time employees, but he realized Jeff had the experience and ability to work them both, so the positions were combined into one full-time role, and Jeff was hired on the spot. Now, Jeff works for SSVP as our Holy Family Ministries & Building Coordinator. When he was younger, Jeff traveled across six countries in Europe with a choir. Nowadays, Jeff enjoys spending his off time playing guitar (having been a part of three bands!) and trying new restaurants, always making sure to share the results with his co-worker Austin! |
