In 2018, when Archbishop Lucas asked the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha to continue providing the homeless outreach ministries here at the Holy Family Center (after the parish had closed), the SSVP board of directors, without fanfare, replied with a unanimous “yes." And with that approval, serving the homeless of our Omaha community became a special work of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. So, Mondays through Fridays, SSVP staff and volunteers provide clothing and personal care items to the homeless via our “Closet Door” and serve hundreds of sack lunches to homeless and low-income members of our community, via our Sack Lunch Program

Closet Door

At our Closet Door program, St. Vincent de Paul volunteers help our homeless neighbors get the clothes and personal products they need - for zero cost to them. Closet Door is run from the pink door on the west side of the Holy Family Center. ​This program operates every ​Monday - Friday, 9 AM-10 AM.

Closet Door relies on in-kind donations to provide its services. Please consider donating seasonal clothing (shorts, tees, etc. in the summer and coats, hats, gloves, etc. in the winter), and hygiene products (soap, lotion, combs, etc.) to help us provide for our neighbors in their time
​of need. ​

Sack Lunch & Street Outreach

​Our Sack Lunch and Street Outreach programs make over a thousand sandwiches a week to feed our less fortunate neighbors. This program is operated through the green door on the west side of the Holy Family Center. ​This program runs Monday - Friday, from ​10:30 AM - 11:30 AM.

Beyond handing sandwiches out to our homeless and low-income neighbors, our Street Outreach programs delivers sack lunches to a variety of low-income housing across Omaha.

Hope of the Poor - Coffee Hour

Our coffee hour is run by the amazing people at Hope of the Poor - another non-profit dedicated to helping the homeless. Their dedicated team runs this program every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday starting at 10:30 AM.

During the coffee hour, the Hope of the Poor staff provides more than just coffee. They lift our neighbors spirits by creating long-lasting friendships and offering prayer for anyone who may wish to participate.
