MAKE A FINANCIAL DONATION DIRECTLY FROM YOUR IRA TO CHARITY
A SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR THOSE 70 1/2 AND OLDER

Not living off your IRA savings? Please consider making a tax-free donation to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha and benefit families in need – and you. It's easy.
THE IRA CHARITABLE ROLLOVER AND QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTION
You can give any amount (up to a maximum of $108,000) per year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity such as the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha without having to pay income taxes on the money. Gifts of any value $108,000 or less are eligible for this benefit and you can feel good knowing that you are making a difference for the Society. This popular gift option is commonly called the IRA charitable rollover, but you may also see it referred to as a qualified charitable distribution, or QCD for short.

WHY CONSIDER THIS GIFT?
  • Your gift will be put to use today, allowing you to see the difference your donation is making.
  • Beginning in the year you turn 73, you can use your gift to satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD).
  • You pay no income taxes on the gift. The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions.
  • Since the gift doesn’t count as income, it can reduce your annual income level. This may help lower your Medicare premiums and decrease the amount of Social Security that is subject to tax.

BELOW IS INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR A DONOR IN ORDER TO MAKE A DIRECT TRANSFER FROM AN INDIVIDUAL RETIREMENT ACCOUNT (QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTION) TO THE SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL OMAHA.
  • Transfers must be made directly from a traditional Individual Retirement Account by your IRA administrator to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha. Use your IRA provider’s forms (or process) to request a check – from your IRA – made payable to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha.
  • Use the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha’s Tax ID: 47-0745721.
  • Please ensure that your name is included so that we may properly credit your gift.
  • Funds that are withdrawn by you and then contributed do NOT qualify.
  • Gifts must be outright. Distributions to donor-advised funds or life-income arrangements such as charitable remainder trusts and charitable gift annuities do not qualify.
  • Do not expect a charitable tax receipt (or take a tax deduction) because the transferred amount should not be treated as taxable income.
WHEN, WHERE, AND HOW TO SEND
  • Make your request in time for your check to be received at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha before December 31st each year.
  • Checks should be sent to:
THE SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL OMAHA
1715 IZARD STREET
OMAHA, NE 68102

Please consult your financial advisor or IRA Administrator regarding making your qualified charitable distribution to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha. If you have additional questions, please contact the Society’s Development Director, Tim Sully, at [email protected] or at 402-779-8499, extension 103.
