SSVP Omaha's Choice Food Pantry
For many decades, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha has provided a Choice Food Pantry, located on the west end of our 2101 Leavenworth Street facility. Offering a wide selection of non-perishable items, fresh produce - including harvests from our adjacent SSVP Garden - along with frozen food, bread, dairy and proteins, volunteer "Companions" personally escort neighbors through the pantry, helping ensure every family leaves with the food they need.
Last year, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha’s Food Pantry Program (including pantries at a number of our SSVP parish conferences) provided $1,080,468 worth of groceries to 36,148 neighbors in need. And, not long ago, our main Food Pantry served 177 families in a single morning – a record for the Society and a 35% increase over the previous year.

PANTRY VOLUNTEERS
We are always looking for volunteers to help at the Pantry and the Pantry Garden. We have roles that include sorting and stacking food as well as companions to those who are shopping with us. Please contact us if you are interested in joining this crucial work: [email protected], or click HERE for more about volunteering and to sign up. Check out the personal reflection from a grateful neighbor, "Thomas" at our SSVP Food Pantry.

Ours is a "Choice" Food Pantry.
|
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha offers a "choice" Food Pantry to families and individuals in need. We receive a portion of our food from the USDA through the Emergency Food Assistance Program, also known as TEFAP. No ID or additional information is required to receive TEFAP food(s) as long as you are under the monthly gross income limits. This institution is an equal opportunity provider. Pantry Garden
Our "Garden Angel" volunteers tend to our Pantry Garden, growing food to supply our food pantry with fresh and delicious fruits and vegetables, all of which are given out - free of charge - to neighbors in need who visit our Food Pantry.
